Description: The Hellhawk-class Assault Gunship is designed to be an assault gunship that can insert a squad of troops after penetrating heavy enemy resistance.
Heavily armed with dual laser cannons for anti-air targets, a rotary laser cannon to mow down enemy troops and vehicles, and a hefty complement of light concussion missiles with homing capabilities, the Hellhawk is designed to punch through enemy defenses and wreak havoc. The homing missiles are fire-and-forget, and can lock onto air targets or be laser-guided onto land targets. They are relatively weak against capital ships, and are designed mainly to destroy starfighters - although they can easily take down a ship of freighter size. They have penetrator heads to punch through medium armor.
Armored but with only light shielding, the Hellhawk relies on its unusually high speed and maneuverability to duck and dodge enemy forces.
Mass produced and designed to be the core of an army's transports, the Hellhawk is dependent on either a base or capital ship, as it has no Hyperdrive and has fuel cells that must be replaced. It is designed to be launched in droves, and simply overwhelm a defensive force in a flurry of laser fire and missiles, with the ground troops ending the battle.
The Hellhawk has found use in almost every major military force, and is even a favorite of crime lords.
