As you may have noted, thus far we do not have much anything for fleets outside of a few vessels for the Mandalorians. This is something of a problem, as the big space ships are rather iconic of Star Wars. While I'm sure I could eventually write up the ships myself, it'll probably take clear up until the end of the Obama Administration before I get 'em all finished, what with the other stuff I have to flesh out still, the bios I have planned/halfway written and need to finish, and the funnies that keep distracting me.
So here's what we need:
Each fleet needs something of a thematic element to it - 'big and bulky' (like the Empire), 'high-tech', 'swarm' (like the Vong), 'hit-and-run' (like the Hapans), that sort of thing. The element should follow the cultural convictions of the faction, and it should reflect in the majority of the fleet.
The factions also need ships to fill out the major roles, with at least one hull per size category (except Dreadnought, which only the Alliance and the Empires are likely going to have). They'll also require fighters, at least something that can fill the interceptor role, preferably a space superiority fighter and a ship-killer/bomber as well. Now, given the relationship between the factions, the ones we really need are Imperial and Alliance designs. Everyone else can buy those secondhand from the major powers.
Try to design things to keep in line with canon vessels, and nothing bigger than what's found in canon.
Alliance
I'm going to be porting in the Traquia-class and Blue Diver-class ships, which hints at the Alliance's being fighter-heavy. The Alliance will need a proper Star Destroyer (or 'Defender', if ya wanna get PC about it) for a first-rate ship of the line, a cruiser capable of independent patrols, an interdictor, an escort frigate to go with the cruiser (and the rest of the fleet, really), and a patrol corvette. Given the nature of the Alliance, it's perfectly alright if it has multiple ships to each role and ships outside of these roles.
The Alliance needs fighters, too. It needs successors to the A-Wing, the X-Wing, the B-Wing, and the Y-Wing.
Imperials
We need a Star Destroyer (like the Imperial Star Destroyer) capable of patrolling star systems and serving as a first-rate ship of the line, a heavy cruiser (like the Victory Star Destroyer) capable of patrolling less-active star systems and serving as a second-rate ship-of-the-line, an interdictor, an escort frigate capable of keeping up with the Star Destroyer and good for multiple roles, but most importantly anti-starfighter duty. We'll also need a corvette suitable for patrol duty, though if it's good for anti-starfighter roles that'll be handy.
The Empire will still have TIE series starfighters. They'll need an interceptor designed to fly out and meet enemy fighters before they have a chance to be a threat, and thus the fighter will have to be fast and offensively lethal, but sacrifices from armor and shielding to do so (like the TIE Interceptor). They'll also need a space superiority fighter (something like the X-Wing), a relatively rugged design able to outmaneuver and destroy enemy fighters. The fighters aren't used for force projection much, so a bomber/ship-killer is of less importance to me.
Lastly, the Empire needs a flagship. They can have a handful of dreadnoughts, all under the command of grand admirals or moffs.
Sith
The Sith are much like the Empire, and can even use the same ship designs. Don't let that discourage you from coming up with new ones, though - it has been more than sixteen years since they split, after all.
If nothing else is distinct, however, I want the Sith to have a separate flagship. Bonus points if it's something along the lines of the Eclipse.
Hapes Consortium
Largely, the Hapans just need updates to their unique designs - the Battle Dragons, the Nova cruisers, the Miy'til fighter, and the Miy'til bomber. If you feel up to it, the Beta cruiser and Stella-class frigate could use de-stumpification. The Hapans could also use a flagship (something the size of a Battlecruiser, not a full-fledged Dreadnaught), and their navy's sorely lacking something in the Star Destroyer range. I'm sure TAC would appreciate if you spoke with him about the fleet.
This isn't all of the navies, but it is getting late. The Vong have bio-ships, but I want to do the initial types myself to get them set off in the direction I have envisioned, and the Chiss are - like the Hapans - pretty much just updating what they have. The CSA will be buying all of their hulls secondhand off the Empire and the Alliance, and the Mandos will be doing some of that as well if I understand Neph correctly.
