This is the standard format for posting up a new species. Remove everything placed within the double parenthesis when posting your species, and be sure to follow the guidelines within. Like a character profile, a species profile has a passive approval process; they are useful in play as soon as they're posted unless and until a staff member posts an objection. While the more dickish among our number might take this to mean they can safely ignore the complaints of fellow members, don't forget that a character is rather useless if nobody is willing to play with him - and the same goes for a species.
Unlike the other templates, this one has a lot of leeway. The importance is not so much that you have the information in the format as it is that you have the information.
((An introductory abstract giving a quick overview of the species's prominent traits, their history, and culture. If you'd like, an image would be handy to give your fellow players an idea of what the species looks like.))
Personality: ((A paragraph or so outlining how members of this species typically act, behave, and react. While it's easy to fall into the trap of stereotyping, keep in mind that not all members of a species are carbon copies of one another - and adventurers tend to be unusual members of their species.))
Physical Description: ((A paragraph giving a description of the species's physiology and biology, with particular focus on how they differ from the norms.))
Lifespan: ((Describe the length of childhood, adolescence, maturity, senescence, and typical age at death. "Child 1-9; young adult 10-14; adult 15-45; middle age 46-59; old 60-79; venerable 80+" is fine for a species that lives about as long as Humans.))
Homeworld: ((An outline of the species's homeworld.))
History: ((An outline of the species's history in the galaxy. This can be lengthy and complex, or so simple as a paragraph providing a rough outline.))
Culture: ((The length for this may vary a great deal. Some species have very distinctive and complex cultures, while some are so integrated into galactic society that they have practically no culture of their own. Non-sentient species do not need this, though domesticated creatures do. They are, after all, part of another species' culture. If the technology of the species is unique, then it should go under here.))
Language: ((The name and a quick description of the species's language(s).))
Example Names: ((A list of about a half-dozen names common or typical of the species, to give players an idea of how to name their characters.))
