Name: Emily Sodhrin
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Residence:
Age: 22
Height: 5'6''
Weight: 133lb
Hair Color: Ginger
Skin Color: Fair
Force-Sensitive: No
Appearance
Emily is of average height, slightly on the slender side and without strongly developped curves. Her wardrobe consists of simple shirts, cardigans and jeans - entirely unremarkable civilian attire. When an activity requires it, she wears a leather tool belt and a gray jacket with a couple of pockets - and a lot of stains.
The two steel-blue eyes in her freckled face often have a curiously expressionless look that makes her hard to read, though her lips sometimes make up for that. However, she looks very alive and awake at virtually all times.
Personality
Despite not being an extravert, Emily is very open to experience, always curious and often playful in her explorations. Her attention is a fickle thing, jumping from one matter to the next or hooking onto one for extended periods of time quite unpredictably.
Never having had a significant experience of failure, she is generally optimistic that problems can be solved by applying intelligence to them. The exception to this rule is politics. While she has opinions about what be a rational arrangement, she is largely apological for practical purposes, as she's not exactly confident that things on the large scale are susceptible to rational design. She is not amoral on a personal level, though, even if she is sometimes careless and does not obsess over morally evaluating every single decision. She is somewhat lacking in her ability to empathize with others, which can make her appear callous and calculating, but her calculations are not purely egotistic. When she fails to be considerate, it is often because she fails to accurately understand another person, rather than because she doesn't care.
Politeness is generally something she can't keep up with, and she's therefore prone to speaking her mind. Sometimes, it makes her off-putting to others, though she can also appear very friendly and enthusiastic, depending on how she feels about another person.
Background
Born into a working class family on Palanhi, Emily was a very gifted child. Her parents and sister were less than supportive of her curiosity and desire to learn, and while she wasn't actively picked on, she wasn't particularly popular among her peers, either. Her well-liked elder brother was something of an exception, feeling protective and proud of his intelligent younger sister.
The Imperial school system, however, was always ready to spot and encourage excellence. School was an effortless and almost casual matter for Emily, and she used every opportunity the system supplied to acquire skills beyond that, but she was without competitive impetus. Instead of socializing, she spent much of her time with reading and programming for her own amusement. At this point, she was largely left alone by her family, more of a guest in her own home than a daughter. Even as Emily went through puberty, her identity continued to be built around her intellectual interests, and so she didn't think of paying more attention to socialization.
The system did nothing to discourage this, allowing her to finish school at the age of 16, after which she was granted a scholarship to the Imperial University, where she went to study engineering and computer science. In college, and she had an easy time catching the attention of young men, a situation she was quite unaccustomed to and which she didn't hesitate to take advantage of in a casual manner. Regarded as something of a genuis among her colleagues, she didn't suffer from the self-esteem issues that would often come with underdevelopped social skills like hers, despite not developping a close social circle.
After graduation with distinction at the age of 21, Emily had no inclination to subject her desire for freedom and independent exploration to the limitations of a professional environment in academia or industry. She could always settle like that later, but now, if ever, having accomplished everything and more than was expected of someone her age, she had the time to collect experiences.
Skills
Emily is a prodigious programmer and engineer, and unlike many in this profession, she has discovered that she doesn't even have an aversion to getting herself dirty and actually enjoys tinkering with her own hands instead of having droids do all the work. Beyond that, she has a general aptitude for rational scientific thinking which transfers to some extent across domains
Physically, however, she is pretty much useless - neither is she athletic, nor does she have any fighting skill.post
