Technical Name: Jedi Guardian Armor Manufacturer: Jedi Artisans Model: Jedi Guardian Armor Affiliation: Jedi Order Composition: Cortosis weave, laminanium, ballistic gel, armorweave. Classification: Body Armor Weight: 16 kg Description: Though each individual suit of armor is a work of art unique to each Jedi who wears it, these armors have certain traits in common. They are found among the Knights of Yavin IV, crafted in the temple's forges and drawing from traditions across the galaxy. Far from the standardized and universal armor of the Imperial Knights, however, even the more militant Yavin Jedi rarely use these suits of armor. However, they have become increasingly common as the Sith increase in numbers - and commensurate to that increase, the danger of lightsaber-wielding enemies. This is an example of a medium-weight armor of about average quality for the type. Many Jedi prefer a lighter armor, which a lower level of physical protection in exchange for reduced weight and increased flexibility. |
- Armor Plates: Lightweight laminanium alloy plating protects the Jedi's body. It is plated with a layer of cortosis, making it resistant to lightsabers - though the cortosis is not pure enough to shut down enemy lightsabers. The armor provides good coverage, and thanks to the combination of the metals it is very good against energy weapons for its weight - while being only about average against projectile weapons. However, the laminanium will reform itself when damaged, providing the wearer with regenerative protection. The armor can withstand about four-five blaster pistol shots to the torso and three-four to each limb, or half as many blaster rifle shots. However, it can only take about half as many shots from a slugthrower.
- Body Glove: The body glove has zersium-impregnated ballistic gel packets providing near-total protection, the packets being sandwiched in between layers of armorweave. The gel is excellent against very nearly any melee weapon except lightsabers, while the armorweave disperses blaster bolts and even provides some protection against lightsabers.
The body glove is also environmentally sealed, providing protection against extremes of heat and cold, radiation, corrosive environments, biological threats, and chemical attacks. When sealed, it has a built-in supply of about thirty minutes' worth of air.
The body glove also has a network of bacta-carrying capillaries running next to the wearer's skin. While insufficient to really bring him back into the fight, they do reduce recovery time and scarring when the wearer is wounded. - Helmet: A bubble-masked helmet, this is not intended for heavy combat duty - unlike its opposite numbers among the Imperial Knights - and bears a stronger resemblance to civilian pressure suits than anything else. The helmet has a deployable HUD eyepiece, and though not ordinarily loaded with weapons software is compatible with most vehicles and starfighters. The helmet's transparisteel visor, sandwiched between layers of flexible polymer so as to prevent spalling and breaking, is also covered in a photoreactive chemical so as to protect the Jedi against intense and sudden light. When exposed to bright light, the mask darkens in proportion to the intensity of the light. The helmet also includes earphones like those in use by the Alliance military, which serve to not only protect against loud noises but also to emphasize those sounds which the wearer may want to hear - voices, footsteps, and the like.
- Jedi Utility Belt: Nearly identical to the belt commonly worn by unarmored Jedi, this is built into the armor out of hard plates in order to protect the contents. The belt can be detached in case the Jedi needs to abandon his armor. The belt has a three-day supply of food capsules, a medic, a tool kit, a spare power pack, a spare energy cell, a glow rod, a comlink, and an Aquata breather.
