Technical Name: Beskar'gam Manufacturer: Clan armorsmiths Model: Mandalorian Armor Affiliation: Mandalorian Clans Composition: Mandalorian iron, armorweave Classification: Body Armor Weight: Light 13 kg, medium 20 kg, heavy 35 kg. Description: Crafted of beskar alloy, Mandalorian armor is one of the most recognizable hallmarks of the Mando'ade. Each suit is unique to its wearer, an individual work of art with as much sentimental value as protective. Though formerly nigh-invulnerable, advances in weapons technology have outstripped the techniques of most Mandalorian smiths. Mandalorian battle armor remains some of the highest-quality in the galaxy, but like the Mandalorian people themselves it is in its twilight. |
- Armor Plates: The armor plate of most Mandalorian armor is a beskar alloy commonly known as Mandalorian iron; twenty-five percent beskar, two percent ciridium, eight percent carbon, and sixty-five percent high-grade durasteel. The armor is resistant to very nearly every weapon type in existence. No fancy laminates, no exotic metallurgy techniques, just good old-fashioned Mandalorian armorsmithing and sturdy, reliable plate.
- Light: Light Mandalorian armor is rated to resist about three-four pistol shots to the torso and one-two pistol shots to a limb, or half as many rifle shots. Boba Fett's armor is an example of light Mandalorian armor, providing protection to the head, torso, groin, forearms, and shins.
- Medium: Medium beskar'gam is rated to resist about four-five pistol shots to the torso and two-three shots to a limb, or half as many rifle shots. Jango Fett's armor is an example of medium Mandalorian armor, providing protection to the head, torso, shoulders, outer thighs, groin, and lower legs.
- Heavy: Heavy beskar'gam is rated to resist about five-seven pistol shots to the torso and three-five shots to a limb, or half as many rifle shots. The full-body plating of the Mandalorian neo-crusaders is an example of heavy Mandalorian armor, providing protection to the wearer's entire body.
- Gorget: This traditional neck armor protects the Mandalorian from being decapitated - including resisting a lightsaber's blade. It is the only component commonly made from pure beskar, and high-grade Mandalorian gorgets are practically indestructible.
- Helmet: The most instantly recognizable part of a Mandalorian's armor, with its distinctive T-shaped visor, the helmet is a control center for most of the armor's abilities. A battle computer inside the helmet allows the wearer to control the suit's weapons, sensors, and jet pack through verbal commands. The helmet's sensor package includes a MFTAS that provide a targeting assistance program by painting target reticules on the HUD when linked with compatible weapons, multi-spectrum imagers, motion sensors, and the ability to see through smoke, darkness, and other low-vis conditions. The helmet also has a rangefinder built onto an extendable arm, providing additional targeting data for long-ranged shots and the ability to track up to thirty targets. A pineal eye sensor combined with an internal overlay display provided tracking information within a 360-degree radius.
The helmet also has advanced breath filters and a built-in comlink with encryption and multi-band communication capabilities. It also has automatic polarizing and anti-flash lenses that protect against intense glare and sonic filters that protect against intense and loud sounds, as well as built-in macrobinoculars that enable the Mando to get a good look at faraway targets. - Body Glove: The body glove is made of double-layered armorweave impregnated with Mandalorian iron fibers. Rarely so high-tech as their Imperial equivalents, the heavy Mandalorian body gloves provide protection against projectile and energy weapons alike at the expense of weight. However, the body glove alone is rated about as highly as most blast armors, being rated against a couple shots from a pistol and resistant to lightsabers.
The body glove can be sealed against toxic atmosphere, biological attack, and vacuum, but ordinarily does not provide protection against the more extreme environmental conditions. - Environmental Filter System: When the helmet is on and the body glove sealed, the armor can provide the wearer with two hours of breathable air from a reserve tank or filter environments indefinitely.
- Power Supply: As Mandalorians are famed for their suite of built-in weapons, their armors often accommodate the inclusion of weapons, tools, and gadgets of all kind as well as providing power for them. Mandalorian armor has a small fusion bottle on the backplate, a torus-shaped reactor that produces more than enough power for whatever the Mando's weapon needs. The power supply has several connectors located throughout the suit, most notably to the helmet, gauntlets, back, and abdomen. The abdominal plugs typically are used to recharge power packs, while the others are used for sensors, weapons, and even jet packs.
