[li]Force Valor - This light side power increases the resolve, accuracy, and speed of Haakon and his allies. Tapping into the Force, he can help his comrades and himself to move quicker, hit harder, and shoot straighter.
[/li][li]Telekinesis - Like many who train to fight with the Force, Haakon is skilled in the use of Force Telekinesis. He can exert a great deal of force, able to lift even something the size of a landspeeder and can hurl smaller objects with enormous force reaching levels near primitive slugthrowers. His ability with fine detail work is somewhat less adept, though he can manage just fine by taking his time and being careful with it.[/li][/ul]SKILLS:
- Haakon is a skilled saber duelist, training in Form IV, Ataru, also known as the Hawkbat Form. He is not very flashy, so far as Ataru duelists go, but it is still a high-kinetic form - and helps explain his nickname of "Hawk".
- Haakon is a decent shot, particularly with the blaster pistol.
- Like many Jedi, Haakon is well-versed in a wide variety of subjects. Despite what his instructors may have thought, he was paying at least some attention during school. He is a skilled mechanic and medic as well.
- Haakon speaks Basic and Huttese fluently, and he speaks some Mando'a. He is literate in Basic, mostly so in Huttese, and barely so in Mando'a.
APPEARANCE
Haakon Kin-Kari is a light-skinned man with dark blond hair and crystal blue eyes. He is clean-shaven, like most younger Jedi, and wears his hair combed back from his brow, tied into a club ponytail at the base of his neck. He's tall and broad-shouldered, with a well-muscled physique he keeps up through regular workouts. When he's not expecting a fight, Haakon dresses in the dark robes of a Yavin Jedi. He wears a black tunic and pants over a cream white shirt. The pants are cargo pants, providing plenty of pockets while resembling Jedi garb close enough for passing inspection, and are tucked into calf-high leather-and-armorweave combat boots.
Haakon's usual battle garb combines Jedi robes with Mandalorian battle-armor. His battle armor is composed primarily of Jongi Jotano's beskar'gam, given him by his daughter Jan, with the body glove of a suit of Jedi Guardian armor and a robe beneath the plating. Haakon generally drops the robe when he expects to fight. The armor is painted dark blue with white trim, and includes a pauldron on the left shoulder and a kama around the waist, both black with dark blue trim. The helmet has a T-shaped face-plate with white jaig eyes over the brow. The emblem of the Jotano clan, a stylized white shriek-hawk in mid-dive, is emblazoned on the pauldron.
PERSONALITY
Haakon doesn't seem to understand the meaning of the words "quit" or "despair". Though a pragmatic realist, he constantly strives to seek out the best possible outcome to a situation. He was once a more orthodox Jedi, but his time among the Mandalorians has opened his eyes to a larger view of the world.Unfortunately, Haakon still doesn't seem to believe in planning ahead. He's never been terribly fond of 'navel-gazing', as he refers to most meditation, and puts more faith in the physical realm than he does the powers of the Jedi. While intelligent, he's much more a man of action than of contemplation and thinking.
BIOGRAPHY
Haakon Kin-Kari was born to an aristocratic family on Corellia, where the Jedi discovered him at a young age and brought him into the Order. He trained as a youngling, and when he was an apprentice the Rutian Twi'lek Jedi Knight Nimbla Nim selected him for her pupil. His training went reasonably well, but when he was fourteen a mission on the Outer Rim went disastrously. A group of Mandalorians ambushed the Jedi. Nim managed to defeat several before the Mandalorians cut her down, but Haakon fought on fiercely. The Mandalorian leader, Jongi, impressed with Haakon's prowess, ordered that the apprentice be taken prisoner rather than killed. He claimed Nimbla's lightsaber, proud to have killed a Jedi.Nimbla, however, was not dead. She awoke on the battlefield, barely alive, and despaired of finding her apprentice. She was unable to sense him through the Force, but looked for him anyways despite her injuries and stolen lightsaber. After months of fruitless searching, even going so far as to try going undercover and infiltrating a gang of Mandalorian raiders, she finally gave him up for dead. Nimbla was unable to come to terms with that, though, and so she departed the Jedi Order.
Haakon lived among the Mandalorians of the Jotano clan as a slave. Rather than give up, though, he tried to make the best of a bad situation. Though the clan that had abducted him were raiders, they were not always as such and a small but growing number of them wanted to return to more honorable ways. Haakon met one of these Mandos, a female a couple of years younger than him by the name of Jannsica - Jongi's daughter.
Jannsica befriended Haakon, monopolizing his time with any task she could think of as an excuse to keep him around. Haakon, for his part, didn't complain - Jan wasn't good at coming up with tasks that were unpleasant or cruel, and he enjoyed spending time around her when she forgot that she was supposed to be harsh. When she began confiding her doubts about the clan's raiding ways to him, Haakon saw an opportunity to right a wrong, help a friend, and get himself out of a jam. He asked her why she went along with something she knew to be wrong - and was a little surprised at her furious reaction. Haakon barely escaped execution, and was thrown in prison. After three days in a lightless cell with only water he found leaking from the roof, he heard the snap-hiss of a lightsaber outside. Any illusions that it might have been a Jedi coming to rescue him were dispelled at the sound of a female voice cursing in Mandalorian before the lightsaber cut the door down. Jannsica, looking sick with worry, had come to rescue him after she stole Nimbla Nim's lightsaber from her father. She gave the weapon to Haakon, and together they began the uprising against Jongi Jotano.
After a night of fighting, the Jotano clan had either killed or driven off all of Jongi's supporters. Haakon had refused to kill Jongi or any of the others who surrendered, as the cruel leader had spared his life a year earlier - and Jedi do not kill their prisoners. Instead, they stripped him of his armor and weapons, put him aboard a freighter broadcasting Sith transponder code and the situation explained in the logs, then sent him off towards Alliance space knowing he would most likely be captured and imprisoned. Jannsica became head of the clan, and one of her first acts the clan leader was to officially adopt Haakon into the clan as one of the Jotanos. She outfitted him with her father's armor, returned his master's lightsaber to him, and gave him a ship after making him promise to return.
The Jedi Order was perhaps a little surprised to see an armored warrior claiming to be one of their own arrive on Yavin in a Mandalorian gunship. The masters examined Haakon and reviewed his case, and after careful deliberation they determined he was fit to resume training as a Jedi.
GEAR
- Blaster Pistol: Haakon's blaster pistol is fairly standard for the type.
- Nimbla Nim's lightsaber: The lightsaber belonging to Haakon's former master has an 85-cm blue blade and an 18-cm hilt. It uses a pair of Adegan focusing crystals and an Adegan lens, the crystals collected in the raw from Illum.
- Mandalorian Battle Armor: Haakon's battle armor is composed primarily of Jongi Jotano's beskar'gam, given him by his daughter Jan, though Haakon has incorporated some components of Jedi Guardian armor as well.
- Armor Plates: The armor plate is beskar alloy, twenty-five percent beskar, two percent ciridium, eight percent carbon, and the rest of the alloy is high-grade durasteel. The armor is resistant to very nearly every weapon type in existence. The armor's coverage is good, protecting most of his body, and is rated to resist about three-four pistol shots to the torso, one-two pistol shots to a limb, or half as many rifle shots.
- Helmet: The helmet's sensor package includes a MFTAS that provide a targeting assistance program by painting target reticules on the HUD, multi-spectrum imagers, and the ability to see through smoke, darkness, and other low-vis conditions. The helmet also has advanced breath filters, a built-in comlink with encryption and multi-band communication capabilities, and a voice-amplifier. It also has automatic polarizing and anti-flash lenses that protect against intense glare and sonic filters that protect against intense and loud sounds.
- Body Glove: The body glove, of the standard type found in Jedi Guardian armor and similar to that found in Stormtrooper armors, has zersium-impregnated ballistic gel packets sandwiched in between layers of armorweave. The gel is excellent against very nearly any melee weapon except lightsabers, while the armorweave disperses blaster bolts and even provides some protection against lightsabers.
The body glove is also environmentally sealed, providing protection against extremes of heat and cold, radiation, corrosive environments, biological, and chemical attack. It has thirty minutes' worth of air stored in cylindrical canisters in the backplate.
The body glove also has a network of bacta-carrying capillaries running next to the wearer's skin. While insufficient to really bring him back into the fight, they do reduce recovery time and scarring when the wearer is wounded. The network links to a pair of small canisters located on the back, and has dispensers on both palms.
- Armor Plates: The armor plate is beskar alloy, twenty-five percent beskar, two percent ciridium, eight percent carbon, and the rest of the alloy is high-grade durasteel.
