This is the preferred template for a character bio. It strikes the balance of providing at-a-glance information for other roleplayers while enabling you to go as in-depth with your character as you like. The cool kids provide hyperlinks in the text to the appropriate Wookieepedia articles (or the post if it's a fanon creation), but that's hardly a requirement.
However, having a bio is a requirement; a character can't enter play without one.
You may have as many characters as you write bios for. Beginning with power levels and skill levels above the neophyte requires a well-written bio, and unlike most characters that will require approval. Approval is on a case-by-case basis; having a Jedi Master does not automatically permit you to make a Sith Master, much less another Jedi Master.
Force-Sensitive characters must list their powers and describe their skill/power level with them.
Note that there's no entry for credits. This site is, at least for now, without an economy. Your character can be as rich or poor as you see fit to suit your story - just don't go overboard with it.
Resource for weight for various heights and weights: Height and Weight Chart.
Don't be the guy who makes a character who's 6'8" and 120 pounds, then describes him as stocky and well-muscled. On that vein, average height for a Human male is about 5'8", not 6'6". This includes Mandalorians. Keep that in mind when making your character.
Character portraits should be no wider than 800 pixels, and preferably in the height range of about 300-600 pixels. If you want one but don't know where to find it or how to make it, check out this thread for help.

Background
At a minimum, three paragraphs. If you're stuck for what to write up, have them be the character's origins, how he got to where he is, and where he is at the beginning of play.
Ship
Optional, fill out this entry if your character owns a ship. A link to the ship's type and a brief description of it (such as name, cosmetic alterations, and so forth) are sufficient.
Droid
Optional, and much like the ship requires only a link to the type and a brief description.
Gear
The character's weapons, armor, and other personal belongings. While optional, this is also highly encouraged - especially if you're planning on getting into any fights.
Droid characters use a somewhat different set-up for their profile information, though the rest remains by and large the same.

Non-Player Characters
Non-Player Characters, or NPCs, are those characters which have important roles in the story without being central to it. They may have their own bios written up (particularly those who are heads of state, Jedi masters, and the like), but those bios need not be quite so expansive as those of actual PCs.
More information will follow, including links to setting-specific information, as I produce it.
