Completing the steps outlined in this step require a thorough read through of this thread. Almost all of the information here builds off of that thread.

Mandalorians can be of all ages, species, sexual orientations, and genders - the Mandalorian identity is defined only by adherence to the Resol'nare - birthplace is irrelevant. So let's get the diversity going! Females are as badass as males.
If you are unfamiliar with Mandalorian culture, take a look at this summary of Mando culture: swtotg.freeforums.net/index.cgi?board=facmando&action=display&thread=47
It is also a good idea to explore the following information, which explain the original lore of the Clans on this site:
Once you are familiar with Mandalorians and the site lore, you may proceed to make your character. All characters are to be members of the Vencuyanir traditionalist movement, with exceptions. Keep in mind the Vencuyanir victory is a planned event.
Perhaps you wish to make a warrior with a long family tradition of fighting, or a new, untested soldier who has only recently joined the fight. All in all, the goal of the Clans here is to provide an innovative experience for the Mandalorians, and create an active and interesting community for Mandalorian fans. There are many opportunities for Mandalorian characters to enter their names into history, and to become the stuff of legend - the beauty of freeform RP and an original timeline.
When making your character, you may want to assign them to a clan. This is for now a loose area - one can make a Mando in virtually any clan, and even invent their own. Clan Directory
Perhaps your character is a member, or an aspiring member, of one of the unique and legendary Mandalorian Organizations.
That being said, make sure to include your character's motivation to join the fight, any prior history (perhaps as a warrior or militaman), and a list of skills. Your character is allowed to be a veteran of any of the past NPC events.

Beskar, also known as Mandalorian Iron, is a near-indestructible ore that can be only found on Mandalore and its moon, Concordia. Found beneath the surface, beskar is regarded as more valuable than even cortosis, and can withstand steady blows with a lightsaber.
The forging process increased the beskar's strength, and carbons added to the ore to form a molecular cage structure allowed for the ore to be lighter than contemporary metals while retaining toughness - albeit if one was skilled enough to do so properly. Folding also increased toughness. The most skilled smiths can create beautiful and deadly weapons capable of withstanding almost every destructive force in the galaxy, while remaining lightweight enough for practical use.
The nature of beskar's composition and the complex forging process is a guarded Mandalorian secret, and in fact a truly Master-level Smith is very rare. Most smiths have no idea how to truly fulfill the ore's potential, and some of the most masterfully crafted beskar instruments are thousands of years old, the products of a lost order of Master Smiths. Mastering the creation of the cage structure is a skill that takes a lifetime to achieve, if at all, and improperly undertaking this process will foul the ore and render it useless. Thus many smiths do not even attempt to create this lightweight structure, and if they are skilled enough to do so, lack the ability to lessen its weight to the full potential of this art.
Because of beskar's rarity and subsequent cost, coupled with its heaviness, most smiths will forge the ore into an alloy with a lesser material, such as durasteel, carbon, ciridium, or virtually any strong metal. This reduced beskar's weight to bearable standards, but reduced toughness. Jango and Boba Fett's armor was made out of durasteel.
Beskar can be used in virtually everything, from plating starfighters, forging weapons (notable beskade, or swords made out of beskar), prison cells, musical instruments, and legendary crushgaunts.
Beskar alloy is permitted for use by all regular Mandalorian characters if one desires, consisting of 25% beskar alloyed with any other metal. This in armor (beskar'gam) weighs 125% more than the alloy of choice's weight.
Math: .25 x (Weight of alloy) + weight of alloy = Armor weight
Keep in mind the more the armor weights, the more bulky and maneuverable that is - a considerable disadvantage for any good fighting Mando'ad.
Beskar melee weapons not exceeding beyond dagger size are allowed to be family heirlooms or other similarly special circumstances and consist of pure beskar. Melee weapons larger than dagger size (1 foot) may contain 75% beskar and alloyed with any other alloy. Alloys cannot be cortosis. Beskar weapons and instruments should have some sort of backstory. A specific martial art for using a Beskad in combat is called Mesh'la Kal, created by the Watchmen and taught by Blademasters spread out through Mandalorian space and lesser teachers who may not have achieved full mastery in the art.
These rules are in force to prevent overpower and abuse of beskar, and to reflect the rarity of the ore. There will be in-character opportunities to obtain pure beskar equipment in an epic fashion.
Members of Mandalorian Organizations also get the special privilege of having higher percentage besk armor (Supercommandos 85% beskar lightweight craft, Protectors 65% extra lightweight craft, Watchmen 90-100% lightweight craft). Special characters like Mand'alor or Aliit'alor also have near-pure or pure beskar armor.
Although all Mandalorians are primarily soldiers and are combat trained, one need not be only one of the best warriors in the galaxy. Additional specialties included being a pilot, mechanic, smith, etc. - all extremely valuable traits. Think as to what your character might else want to do on a good Merc or combat mission. Incorporate these skills into your character.

A Note on Beskar
starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mandalorian_iron
"Beskar is a uniquely resistant iron that develops a wide range of properties—and colors—in the hands of skilled metalsmiths. Depending on the alloy, it can take any form from plate, laminate, and wire to foam, mesh, micronized particles, and even a transparent film. Mandalorians jealously guard their beskar-working skills and refuse to sell the formulas for any price; attempts to reproduce finished beskar elsewhere have been disappointing. The ore is found solely on Mandalore, and only Mandalorians know how to work it to maximize its extraordinary properties."
