The Goals of the Mandalorian Clans Faction of TOG
OOC, this faction is meant to emphasize the distinctive traits of the Mandalorians. Fierce, capable warriors, and independent. Mandalorians as a faction on this site will represent Mandalorian ideas and culture and the continuation of the Mandalorian tradition.
As a result, the Mandalorians, once a unified faction, will observe a policy of isolationism. Mandalorians will not embark on galactic conquests that have resulted in overextension and exploitation followed by periods of decline previously in history. In short, the Mando'ade of this site have had enough of aruetiise wars. Individuals are free to pursue foreign contracts as mercenaries or bounty hunters in search of riches, glory, and honor (this will become an accepted cultural norm down the line). The clans will remain powerful, and unified, but will focus on nation-building and maintaining a fierce self-dependency. The clans will defend themselves against foreign incursion, but as a whole will have a policy of neutrality.
This is all to maintain activity, and focusing on what draws players to make Mando NPCs - the basics. The pursuit of glory, and adventures of epic proportions - along with the grittiness and skill of a warrior culture. By removing the Mandalorians from the main faction wars, but still maintaining a significant portion of galactic power, the Mandalorians will remain empowered while fitting into their place in the galactic order - with no costly overextensions.
IC, The Mandalorians will solidify this emerging political, economic, and social philosophy of Solus a' dral - political policy being of isolationism and pursuit of national interests solely while defending with a fierce response to any incursions and embarking on expansive campaigns only when politically acceptable and with minor factions. Social policy being the promotion of traditional Mandalorian values and a fierce national pride - as well as an emphasis to loyalty the nation as a whole, with the clan coming second. Economically, this means fostering innovation and industry to build a powerful, self-dependent economy and infrastructure - allowing the Mandalorians to remain completely independent while steadily developing.
Timeline and Original Lore/Plot
However, this is years away. The first part of the Mandalorian timeline here will be the unification process, as the civil war wraps up after several epic conflicts and events that will tear at the meaning of being Mandalorian in these troubled times. Extremely fragmented, with most if not all clans completely hostile to each other, the Mandalorians have never been so disunified and vulnerable.
There will be opportunities for participation in many epic events that will go straight into the history books and play a pivotal role in the eventual triumph of the traditionalists. Mandalorian PCs are required to be traditionalists with a few exceptions - this is because the Darasuum will eventually lose, and most of their members go down fighting. If this is something that appeals to you, you may request to create a Darasuum PC. There is also an exception for characters that will turncoat to the Traditionalists. However, both scenarios I want to be the exceptions to the rules - I will NPC almost the entire Darasuum sub-faction.
Next, the emerging Mandalore solidifies his influence and position and mops up hostile holdouts. The Clan will also face aruetiise who have managed to capture Mandalorian worlds, and embark on crusades to liberate such worlds. Mandalorians who resist Mandalore's authority will also have to be vanquished.
After the civil war ends, the clans will be in a sensitive phase in which infrastructure and a united society will have to be rebuilt. MandalMotors and industry will regain prominence, and ancient organizations like the Protectors and SuperCommandos re-established to make sure Mandalorian space becomes safe and remains unified - these organizations will be instrumental in the formation of a sort-of "federal/national" military force that will supersede the clans'.
