A loose and nomadic group composed almost entirely of Yuuzhan Vong, the Confederation is centered around their great living ships. They are descended from those Vong who either refused exile or departed from Zenoma Sekot in the years after the war. The living planet is still important to their culture, but not so important as their ships. The Vong are divided up into numerous different clan-like Domains, with a caste organization within each Domain. All answer to their ship's captain, who is seen as the very incarnation of the ship's spirit and is quite literally the ship's conscious mind.
The Yuuzhan Vong remained largely out of the Imperial Civil War, but they did enter in a few battles - most notably, their dramatic rescue of the beleaguered forces at Yavin IV, preventing the Sith from reclaiming their old territory. Their ships have largely haunted the Outer Rim and the Unknown Regions, though a few have been sighted as far Coreward as Naboo and a handful of Vong vessels participated in the Imperial defeat at Kuat - on both sides.
Of the galactic powers, the Yuuzhan Vong practically worship the Jedi as living gods. There is some friction there, as few Jedi would really approve of many of the Vong's methods. They get along well with the Galactic Empire and the Galactic Alliance because the Jedi do, and detest the Sith because they oppose the Jedi. However, some Vong are instead aligned with the Sith, even going so far as to study under Darth Adas's alchemists and undergoing indoctrination. The Vong find individual Mandalorians worthy, but they dislike them as a group due to their fractious nature. They treat most of the rest with disdain at best, and outright hostility more frequently.
