This warrior society that originated from the Taung species, grew to accomodate any species willing to follow their cultural standards - the Resol'nare. The Mandalorians fought in various galactic conflicts such as the Great Sith War, the Mandalorian Wars, the New Sith War, and the Great Galactic War. After those galactic-scale wars, the Mandalorians did not re-emerge as a powerful political force for centuries.
Starting in 60 BBY, the Mandalorian Civil War swallowed up most of the group's military forces in a self-destructive conflict. Following the Clone Wars, the Mandalorians were subject to Imperial occupation. They fought against the Yuuzhan Vong and re-emerged to prominence in the Second Galactic Civil War.
Now, with no one claiming the title of Mand'alor, the Clans have degenerated into a state of constant warring within their own territory - a period with the name the Warring Clans Period. Two emerging factions within the clans, the Darasuum Confederation and the Vencuyanir Movement, is engulfing the entire group in a Second Mandalorian Civil War - the culmination of an inevitable clash between opposing ideologies. This is a critical point in Mandalorian history - as Mandalorian culture could be irreversibly altered, and a new Mand'alor may finally emerge to lead the people to regain their former glory.
