The Chiss were originally a republician oligarchy of intricate Ruling Families, located in the city of Csaplar of the Unknown Regions, but the recent rise to power of Mal'ins'turvon has left them a collectivist totalitarian dictatorship.

Originally the General Secretary of the Chiss Ascendancy, Mal'ins'turvon spent numerous years in order to gradually consolidate his power and influence. His two political rivals, Leo'nul'ralvanan and Sh'tahd'malnoran became the corrupt official's two priority targets. Using his power and influence within the government, Mal'ins'turvon repeatedly outmaneuvered and isolated his opposition, rendering them completely helpless in the government they served.

It wasn't long before Mal'ins'turvon rose to undisputed power, slowly dissolving entire Chiss Houses, Aristocra, Senates, Parliaments, and everything else making up the Chiss government. After the last shred of the Chiss' previous ruling was abolished, Mal'ins'turvon constructed his own government from the ground up and initiated a totalitarian ruling. The two primary subjects of his abuse of power, his opponents Leo'nul'ralvanan and Sh'tahd'malnoran, were expelled and exiled entirely from the Chiss.

Taking advantage of his totalitarian rule, Mal'ins'turvon seized entire control of corporations and enterprises, initiating an intensive program of industrialization. Further extending his abilities as undisputed leader of the Chiss, a collectivization of farms and all other forms of production of food was put in place.

In reciprocation, famines began cropping up all over the Unknown Regions. Millions of people began to die because of the scarcity of the assigned provisions. Outraged farmers and civilians alike began to rebel against Mal'ins'turvon, to which he retaliated with the biggest stain in Chiss history: the Supreme Verdict. The Supreme Verdict was an essential genocide, consisting of execution and detainment of old Chiss political activists that had been loyal to Leo'nul'ralvanan and Sh'tahd'malnoran. The Chiss Loyal Legions of Mal'ins'turvon arrested, detained, and shot and killed millions more people; estimates showing approximately a thousand executions each and every day.

Chiss still loyal to Leo'nul'ralvanan and Sh'tahd'malnoran are fleeing to find their lost leaders, and hold hopes of restoring their once glorious people. The Chiss Unknown Legions, once honorably dedicated to their people, have also begun to turn against Mal'ins'turvon, assisting said Chiss in escaping and hiding.
