Only if you're stupid about them, and forget that the only reason they did so well was that their technology was novel - not powerful - and that by the end of the war the Vong had a distinct technological disadvantage.

Trusting the players to play the race fairly is one step to getting activity. If there's too much abuse, it can always be limited if not removed entirely. Right now it's all about leaving things open for possibility.

Hey guys, I'll throw my two cents in here. I think you've got an opportunity to go outside the usual SWs themes of Republic/Alliance vs Empire by eliminating one of the faction. And I think doing away with the Alliance is a great idea. Make the Empire more of a neutral, shady government.

I don't know about eliminating a faction altogether. That wouldn't quite appeal to people who enjoy playing the faction we canned.

True. But perhaps you could combined the two in some way, so that fans of both could find their niche in the same place. I dunno, I just like doing things different ;D

I dunno, I just like doing things different ;D For those of you who don't know nike, say hi. VERY capable RPer. Surpasses me in skill, certainly. I've enlisted her to be Mandalorian deputy if that's alright, and I'm sure she can aid in the overall soaptank. However I do very heartily agree with these statements. Eliminating the GA and adopting the unorthodox makes us very unique and original. I was under the impression the GA would sort of be a minor faction at most, if not incorporated into the non-Force empire. I think that's a great idea - something we should explore. Anyways, I'm working on the Clans and I think its morphing into something original and exciting as well. Keep posted as I will continue to change things! EDIT: After reading up on everything, I really like what you have planned so far. This is turning out to be something really special guys...

How come the mods are the only ones who have caps in their names? I registered as ReliableIdiot. Just curious.

How come the mods are the only ones who have caps in their names? I registered as ReliableIdiot. Just curious. Yeah, it made mine into admin. I had to change it back manually. If you guys can't do it or can't figure it out, let me know and I'll change your names for you. We are, in a way, moving against the theme of Empire vs Alliance - the GA was in the war, but for right now they're only engaged in assisting the Galactic Empire in rebuilding. Think of the relationship as being similar to post-WW II America and Europe, with the Alliance standing in for America and the Empire being Europe. The Empire has much more territory, but most of it was devastated in the Imperial Civil War. The Sith are in a similar position, though they're somewhat better off due to the Galactic Empire fighting a defensive war for much of it. The background conflict on the site is Empire vs Sith, though right now nobody's at war with anyone else. The galaxy is in post-war reconstruction, not precisely poised to start up with another war. This, I think, encourages more personal-scale plots, at least at the outset - which suits, given that most characters are starting at the levels of power where 'personal-scale' is about all they can swing. Also somewhat in keeping with that, look for the smaller, lesser-known factions to be movers and shakers moreso than the still-reeling bigger factions. The Hapans, for example, are deceptively powerful and are not engaged in post-war reconstruction or massive societal upheaval. Their Royal High Commander had the working name of 'Napoleon' before I named him. The post-war situation of the Empire is also particularly fertile ground for the criminal factions, something the Hutts and the Black Sun are pretty good at capitalizing on. ... The Chiss are still probably not going to do much unless they get a Thrawn 2.0 or something like that. But right now, there really aren't any good guys laid out - only the 'bad guys' of the Sith. They are, after all, Sith.
